Foreign Body

About the composition 

A foreign body is an piece of extraneous matter that has entered the body by accident or design. Foreign bodies can be inert or irritating. If they irritate they will cause inflammation and scarring.

Foreign Body introduces the waterphone to the symphony orchestra. aan het orkest. The waterphone was invented by Richard Waters (1935-2013) in the 1970’s. The instrument has been used extensively in film music, but has not been integrated in the standard symphony orchestra for the concert hall. The composition examens the relationship between the orchestra and the waterphone.
